Why does anyone bother to do this? Should we get a life?

If I had it all to do myself I don’t think I could. But the reason I do this is because I get to do something with my wife, my Co-editor, and my son who handles all the technical stuff. He also aids in getting the word out. That’s what makes this fun! It doesn’t take too much time but I get a kick out of “firsts”. Our first post; the first visitor; the first comment; and yes the first buck. But that’s not why we do it. Overall this has been a great experience so far. It’s really a hoot to be involved in something that mostly is a young persons game. I now have some of the same vocabulary as my kids. Imagine that!

My wife and I write two or three articles each per week. I don’t think I could write four or five a week and sustain that over the long haul. I find us talking about our next posts all the time. Pretty neat…another shared interest. I’m into shared interests because it makes us stronger. I’m into learning because it keeps us mentally agile. (Now, now. everything is relative) Plus I like technology.

Neither of us could have even tried to do it without the guys at Content Quake (CQ). CQ is a network for Bloggers who just want to post and forget all the other stuff. CQ constructs the template, including all the feeds. They actually did everything you see on this page except the article you are reading. Not only that, they got us listed on some sites like Blog Explosion in the Blogging community. They even gave us written guidelines to make startup as easy as can be. I had never heard of “WordPress” until I read about it in their instructions. I still haven’t shaken off some old habits, like writing in Word and then pasting into WordPress. This creates some problems so I am trying to forget the “Word” step.

The network is still in the test phase but the guys have been extremely helpful, answering all my dumb questions on the way through. You can see the CQ site here. Go ahead and contact them, they will respond to you.
