This is a sponsored review of a very interesting site called The People History. It is not only a history of people from 1920 through 2006 but also a collection of real people’s memories. If you like taking a walk down memory lane then you will find this interesting and nostalgic. I can’t tell you how many times I remembered where I was during a particular world event or significant moments in my own life. Readers add their own memory, which makes for intriguing reading. Think of this site as a place where historical facts are met by real people’s memories of those times. If you like modern history then you will love this.
In terms of modern history the site is chock full of memorabilia, even down to old pictures of advertisements of the day. This is fun to see. Imagine the early cell phones, a little oversized by modern standards. The site is full of interesting stuff like that and you can’t help saying over and over “I remember that”
Navigation is easy and totally instinctive. Just click on a year of interest and you will be presented with information on world events, pop culture, house prices (yes I looked up the first house I ever purchased), fashion, music of the time, technology and product ads of the time. There is much more but I don’t want this to turn into a long list. You can even see information about the price of cars, clothing, groceries and much more.
I especially liked the memories section where readers can add their own memories of a given year. One that caught my attention was a memory of when England won the World Cup of soccer. Being raised in England I can remember exactly where I was and my future wife was with me. Memories are grand and this site will bring them flooding back. I intend to share it with my children and the older grandchildren.
So take a look at The People History, it is definitely worth a visit.
