Age Is Just A Number

Here are a couple of very positive stories about seniors who don’t know want to spend their years in a rocking chair watching life going by. Its proof positive that a lively mind and body don’t just belong to the young: take heart and get ready to be inspired….

When 95-year-old Nola Ochs graduates this month, she will be the world’s oldest college graduate’.

I don’t dwell on my age. It might limit what I can do. As long as I have my mind and health, it’s just a number.”
When Ochs husband Vernon died in 1972 she started taking classes at a community college. Over the years she took classes here and there until she was close to having enough hours for an undergraduate degree. Last fall Ochs moved the 100 miles from her farm to an apartment at Fort Hays State University to complete the final 30 hours to graduate. As an added bonus she will graduate with her granddaughter who says that she is really accepted by the other students. Quiet a story!

Granny Basketball

Looking for a way to keep fit? Why not take a leaf from the book of the Granny Basketball team in this video and take a shot at the basketball hoops again. The founder of the league was looking for a way to get some exercise and decided that basketball 20’s style would fit the bill. Only seniors 50 years old or older can play and they have players up to the age of 81 playing on the team. The have fun and enjoy the socializing and said that they still have the moves!
