Letter-Retirement Sample

I thought I would get some free examples of writing a letter of retirement. The letter of retirement is still a necessary practice because companies need time to setup retirement benefits and will need something in writing to act. By the way, there is a corresponding letter to rescind the notice in case you change your mind. Below are a series of links to various sites that have free examples you can base yours on:

All in all, they all pretty much say the same thing with the same format so keep it short and to the point. As a change of pace I have added the following sample letter just for a laugh:

Last and least, here is a joke letter (I think???) by a professor on his blog. I especially liked the last comment by a blog commenter, which is appropriately signed “anonymous”.
