This is the time for annual enrollment and scams are peaking, especially with regard to insurance add-ons. Medical coverage is so complicated these days that it is relatively easy to sell something that doesn’t work for the buyer. It seems to be such a widespread problem that the government has been running a “secret shopper” program to check it out. No results yet. Keep your guard up. Low income Medicare beneficiaries need to switch to a different Part D program for free prescription drug coverage. Check it out asap. AARP have a downloadable guide which you can get here.
- The American Hospital Association says “proposed changes that would base Medicare hospital payment on quality-of-care measures could create financial problems for hospitals”. Too bad!
- “American Health Information Community (AHIC) to recommend that the HHS Secretary seek authority from Congress to mandate electronic prescribing (e-prescribing) in Medicare”. I can’t help wondering how many seniors will be intimidated by technology.
