Have you ever wondered why John McCain worked with Ted Kennedy on the failed immigration Bill last year? I have. Everything in Washington is about politics and never how it appears on the surface. I read in a New York post article that exit polls in the Republican primary show McCain picking up 50% of the Hispanic and Cuban votes. McCain has been around a long time and just may be a Wiley old fox.
Florida is full of seniors who constituted a whopping 40% of Republican voters. Of those, 38% went for McCain. I suspect he will have a tougher time when up against a Democrat. I don’t know why they would vote for him I can only surmise that they identify with the older candidate. McCain also won among independents and moderates but lost in the conservative base. The biggest surprise has to be the fact that, among those voters who consider the economy to be the biggest problem facing America today, Romney was soundly beaten. Go figure!
That does not bode well for Romney. To emphasize the point, I listened to a few minutes of the Sean Hannity show Wednesday (Hannity is a Conservative talk radio show host) just in time to hear him do a complete about face and change just about every position he had to align himself with McCain. That was pretty sad to hear but the wheels of the Republican machine are turning in the direction of McCain and away from Romney. This show is all but over; just waiting for the fat lady to sing.
