www.NewRetirement.com – A Review

This is a sponsored review of a site dedicated to retirement planning for all categories in a comprehensive plan; it is aimed at both current seniors and those in the planning stages. That site is NewRetirement.com. The centerpiece of the site is a free retirement calculator. This is probably the fastest and easiest to use calculator I have seen, and I have tried a few. It took me about five minutes to go through, although I am prepared and carry most of my numbers in my head. It will take a little longer if you don’t already now the answers to questions. The interface is very modern with instant feedback at the top of the screen in the form of a bar graph. Possible solutions to problems are presented at the end. They have done a nice job on this.

Other Calculators:

Reverse Mortgage Calculator: This is a very simple calculator that provides multiple answers depending on the type of reverse mortgage required. It provides alternative approaches to releasing home equity if needed. At the same time you can research those answers right on the site. The section on reverse mortgages has all the information you would want including requesting quotes right from the site. In doing so the application form is automatically filled in from information generated with the retirement calculator. That’s a very nice time saving feature.

Social Security Calculator: This is a very handy calculator for “playing around” with retirement age possibilities. Also, if you plan to work after taking Social Security, there is a part of the calculator that figures the penalty, if any. Very useful.

The site provides a rich list of resources on the web. If you need to find out about something it is probably on this list, providing a great research center.

The topics covered on this site are too numerous to list but do cover just about anything you may have a question about. Apart from those already mentioned above some other sections are: Long term care, retirement jobs, health insurance, Annuities, Professional Retirement Advisors and Life Insurance to name just a few. There is a wealth of information here in one single site.

The site is structured so that navigation is straight forward. The individual topics most often have FAQ pages and, once educated, there are ways to contact experts (companies) in that field. I liked the fact that I could send a message to NewRetirement and get an answer. Overall this is a great site that has a place in your bookmarks.
