Every woman in today’s society has probably seen the advertisements for drugs to help with bone loss. Another way we can fight this disease is to do weight bearing exercises. These include walking, biking, and weight-lifting. If you’re lucky enough to have access to a fitness center or gym, you can go there when the weather is bad and get your exercise. Then when the weather gets better, get back outside and take a brisk walk or go for a bike ride in the sunshine (don’t forget your sun screen though).
If you have access to a pool, aquasizing is a good way to get exercise without injuring or stressing your joints. The resistance created by moving through the water increases the benefit of your workout without increasing the stress on your joints since the water helps support the weight of your body. If only we could have that weightless feeling when we get OUT of the water!Â
