No [...]

It has become very clear to me that men approaching retirement have issues to deal with that are similar to those empty nest feelings that plague some women and to a lesser extent some men. There is an increasing loss of importance in old roles that is disconcerting. We all want to be, or feel, [...]

In 1909, Mrs. John B. Dodd of Washington first proposed the idea of a “father’s day†to honor her father, William Smart. Valentines Day is the day to proclaim your love. Many will say it with flowers, some will say it with gifts and one or two foolhardy individuals will go against conventional wisdom and say it in a Limerick:
There was a young man from England
With roots in a very Scottish clan
Who stole my heart

I think that women can have their cake and eat it. As a grandmother, I feel very lucky to have been able to spend time at home with my children and to have a career. Years ago woman did not work outside the home and most did not think of it as an option. Today [...]
Get this straight upfront; my testosterone levels are just fine thank you very much. In a moment of weakness I decided to do the unmanly thing and fess up to some great things I receive from this arrangement called marriage. If you think “little boy in big pants†you are on the right track. [...]

The best wedding gifts you’ll ever get aren’t the ones wrapped in pretty paper. When I got married I expected to be married for a lifetime and didn’t think there would be anything unique or in the least bit exceptional about being married to the same man for 40 years. The truth is that life [...]
